There is an appealing history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall wagering is against the law. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slots and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel compound that contains numerous luxuries aside from the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
